On November 10th, 2019, the wind was chilling outside, but in the conference hall of Great Neck house, it was a scene of enthusiasm. 32 parents and children from various families participated in the 2019 annual conference held by Mini Nonprofit Project.

During the annual conference, Sarah (now a 7th grader in the Great Neck South Middle School), the founder of the micro-public welfare organization, introduced the two main projects of the organization and the annual plan for 2020.

The first project is Kiva project. Kiva is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping poor entrepreneurs around the world access interest-free loans and start-up funds, or helping economically disadvantaged students to continue their studies. During each Kiva event, Kiva team members firstly choose a project from Kiva.org, conduct research, write an article through research, gives a speech and presents his/her research to all the team members showing everyone who they choose and would like to fund. Finally, the project team will vote for the project to be sponsored.

The second project is Kids’ Finance and Cashflow (K.F.C.) competition. This activity mainly focuses on IQ games to train elementary school students and improve their problem solving, mental math, logical thinking, and teamwork skills. In this way, the children can learn a lot, and at the same time, have a lot of fun.
So far, Mini Nonprofit Project has organized more than 30 community events with more than 400 entries, funded 21 Kiva projects in 17 countries, sponsored an elementary school student in Sichuan, China for two consecutive years to help her continue school studies. For the second year in a row, they have also partnered with Rosa’s Fresh Pizza to hold a “Heartwarming Day” on Christmas Eve providing free pizza for the Wanderers in Philadelphia.

During the event, Mini Nonprofit Project also announced the first, second, and third place winners of 2019 Kids’ Finance and Cashflow Competition, namely Katherine, Athena, and Catrina. Sarah awarded the trophy and prizes to the winners.

Mini Nonprofit Project hopes that more parents and children will participate in the activities in the new 2020. Together, we can always DO Good to help promote public welfare, love the public good, help more people, make the world full of love, and help people live a better life.
